DARVISH DEAL DONE
As expected JD, Thad, and the gang got it done.  It's reported as a 6 year 60 million dollar deal, and that's will the national media will run with.  It's actually a 5 year deal, and Darvish will get his 6th year player option if he accomplishes a certain number of accolades.  I haven't came across those specific accolades yet, but i'm very interested to see what they are.  If you think about how 3rd and 4th starters are asking for a little less than 10 million dollars then you realize how much of a bargain this is.  Yes, the 51 million posting fee makes it technically a 6 year 111 million dollar deal, but that money was set aside a long time ago and to my understanding is not in the same pool of cash that affects the payroll.  Who really knows?  To a certain extent I don't think the fan should really care.  As Kevin Goldstein of Baseball Prospectus points out quite frequently, the money either goes to the player or back in the owner's pocket.  Obviously, you don't want your club spending foolishly, but in the end should really care?  I choose to view Darvish as a 10 million dollar a year pitcher.  Roy Oswalt was reportedly just offered 2 years at 17 million from the Twins.  He wants to play for a winner, so he most likely won't take that deal, but i'd contend there's a big difference in what we will get out of Darvish compared to Oswalt.  I'm going to be late to work so I have to quit typing, but i'm excited.  I can't help but feel like this is a bargain.  Big props to the scouts, who were at every Yu Darvish start over the last few years.  Big props to Thad Levine who is the man in charge of structuring contracts.  Big props to the Rangers owners Bob Simpson and Ray Davis for having the faith in JD and the front office, and also big props to Nolan for getting around on this idea.  Obviously, big props to JD because he set out a plan at the beginning of the offseason and Yu Darvish was the organization's number one plan.  He got the guy he wanted.  Case closed, he got the guy he wanted.

As for Prince, i'll have more on that soon.  I think he'll be a Ranger.  I think Thad Levine and Scott Boras are creative enough to make it happen, and I also think Prince isn't too high on the idea of playing for the Nationals.  We'll see.  Either way, it was a great day for the Texas Rangers organization.

T.O. TO JOIN ONE OF MY FORMER EMPLOYERS
Terrell Owens has announced he'll join the Allen Wranglers of the IFL (Indoor Football League).  Last year, I was their play-by-play announcer for about 3 games before I was let go due to a new owner bringing in his own people.  It was one of the happiest days of my life.  The league is boring, the games are boring, and hardly anybody attends them.  It is a joke of a league, and I feel the same way about Arena Football and really any other type of gimmick league.  There's a lot of things here though.  It's been well documented that Terrell Owens needs to pay off some child support, but he could also use this as a tryout. I don't think there is any NFL team that would consider giving him another avenue into the league, but say he dominates in one or two IFL games, then he could possibly drum up some interest for himself.  It's incredibly shady, and it's a tad embarrasing but I'm sure T.O. will put on a show like he always does. I guess when you need cash you need cash, and clearly T.O. needs some straight cash homie.

DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE w/ ORCHESTRA
New tour dates for Death Cab For Cutie, and they are coming back to Dallas.  I saw Death Cab in the summer of 2011 and I thought it was a great show, and a massive improvement over the first time I saw them in 2008.  Add in the Magik*Magik Orchestra and a new venue (McFarlin Memorial Auditorium), and you can count me in again.  Looking forward to it...

ROB LOWE "LITERALLY" THINKS PEYTON MANNING IS FINISHED
A lot of people were joking about this, and yeah I admit it seems a little far-fetched and weird to take breaking NFL news from Rob Lowe seriously, but I honestly don't think it's ludicrous.  First of all, let's remember Peyton Manning retiring was considered "not out of the realm of possibility" back when the season started.  It's not like Rob Lowe is the first one to address the issue of Peyton's retirement.  However, he is the first one to report that Manning's retirement is going down. I just hope we can get Peyton Manning on an episode of Parks and Rec soon!

A STUDY ON BOB
Not necessarily Bob Sturm of Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket, but still a pretty interesting study on Bob.

The main point being that in all of the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, NCAA Basketball, and NCAA Football there is only one player named Bob.  Bob Sanders.

CONCEPCION
Just like me, the Rangers like 18 year olds...
