CIRQUE TV EPISODE 7!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SPORTS
Big win for the Mavs last night 101-100 over those crazy San Antonio Spurs!

We're on Roy Oswat watch today.  Apparenty the Rangers are meeting with the short right-handed pitcher.  I don't see the fit here other than the fact that it gives the Rangers a ton of depth should anyone in the rotation get hurt.  It would make a lot of sense if they moved Feliz back to the bullpen, but that's not happening because the Rangers want to give him that chance to start (as they should).  I'd really hate to see Matt Harrison lose a rotation spot for a 35 year old with back problems, but it's also not the worst thing that could ever happen.  We've come along way haven't we Rangers fans?  We're actually complaining about possibly signing Roy Oswalt.

In the end, there's no fit so let's just leave it at that and save the 8-10 million for our arbitration cases.

OLD IRISH MAN
That says enough, right?  Check this out.  Thanks to deadspin.com

THE WALKING DEAD MID-SEASON PREMIERE
The hicks and zombies ended the first half of Season 2 by shooting the weird lady with the short hair's daughter in the face.  The daughter was a zombie so it was warranted.  Despite not really going anywhere, I continue to watch this show.  I think it's a great combination of being really awful and really good at the same time.  It's generally laughable though.  Here's the trailer for the second part of Season 2 which kicks off in a couple weeks.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FRIENDS WITH KIDS
I want to see this movie.  I love the cast.  Adam Scott, Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig, and Maya Rudolph.  Count me in, no matter what the premise is.  I'm sure it'll get sappy, but the cast is too great for me to not check it out at some point.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PARKS AND REC GOES BOWLING
Very cool review from last Thursday's extremely funny episode of Parks and Rec.  You can tell it's written by a chick, but it's a great take on the episode which was one of my favorites of Season 4.

WET WEDNESDAY 1/25/12

The whole Prince Fielder thing is taken care of.  He signed a 9 year 214 million dollar contract with the Detroit Tigers yesterday.  The Tigers came out of nowhere.  We'd heard rumors of Nationals, Rangers, Orioles, and a few others everyonce in a while, but we'd heard nothing about Detroit.  It's a tad peculiar just because the Tigers have Miguel Cabrera at 1B, but I'm assuming he'll now move to 3B on a part-time basis and DH a lot.  Things will get crowded later in the year if Victor Martinez is able to return from his torn ACL.  That also creates a roster that is far too crowded with 1B/DH types in the years to come.  I think it's an awful long term contract, and actually I think it's an awful contract beginning in 2013, but for this upcoming season it's hard to not see the Detroit Tigers as one of the favorites in the American League.  It's also a little crazy considering that all signs seem to point that the Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski didn't know much about the deal.  It comes off as a situation where the owner wanted to win a championship before he died, so he put in money for one big title shot in 2012.  I'm not saying they won't be positioned to be a contender after the 2012 season, but the roster and payroll situations will be really complicated after this season.  Mitch Moreland can sleep peacefully tonight.  He's in line to be the Rangers starting 1B for the 2012 season, although we all know Michael Young will get plenty of time there.  That's sports...now to the links...

ACADEMY AWARD NOMINATIONS
It's incredibly stupid that they nominate so many films for best picture.  I hate the Academy Awards.  Maybe it's my lack of inspiration to watch movies, but i'm just really down on the film industry in general.  That being said, i'm always interested and looking for good movies to watch.  I've seen none of these movies, but here's the list of nominees for best picture of 2011.

The Artist: Silent and also black and white.  I'm out.
The Descendants:  I'm interested.  Heard it's really depressing, but one of the people who wrote it is Jim Rash who is Dean Pelton on Community.
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close:  Seems really sad.  I'm out.
The Help:  It's like an Oprah club movie, according to Donovan.
Hugo:  Scorsese, so i'm intrigued but i'll never watch it.
Midnight in Paris:  Woody Allen makes Woody Allen movies, which means i'm not going to watch because Woody Allen movies are like all Woody Allen movies and i've already seen a couple Woody Allen Movies.
Moneyball:  I need to see it soon.
The Tree of Life:  Brad Pitt is in it or something I think.  I have no idea.  I won't watch it.
War Horse:  This will not be viewed by my eyes.

BAD NEWS FOR COMMUNITY
I have talked about my frustration for the way NBC has treated Community, and now more than ever I am fearing for it's place on the network after this season.  NBC ordered a bunch of pilots for Fall 2012-Spring 2013 and a lot of them are sitcoms.

POST-YU THURSDAY 1/19/12

CIRQUE TV EPISODE #6 IS UP.   GO TO CIRQUEDUSIROIS.COM or YOU CAN WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DARVISH DEAL DONE
As expected JD, Thad, and the gang got it done.  It's reported as a 6 year 60 million dollar deal, and that's will the national media will run with.  It's actually a 5 year deal, and Darvish will get his 6th year player option if he accomplishes a certain number of accolades.  I haven't came across those specific accolades yet, but i'm very interested to see what they are.  If you think about how 3rd and 4th starters are asking for a little less than 10 million dollars then you realize how much of a bargain this is.  Yes, the 51 million posting fee makes it technically a 6 year 111 million dollar deal, but that money was set aside a long time ago and to my understanding is not in the same pool of cash that affects the payroll.  Who really knows?  To a certain extent I don't think the fan should really care.  As Kevin Goldstein of Baseball Prospectus points out quite frequently, the money either goes to the player or back in the owner's pocket.  Obviously, you don't want your club spending foolishly, but in the end should really care?  I choose to view Darvish as a 10 million dollar a year pitcher.  Roy Oswalt was reportedly just offered 2 years at 17 million from the Twins.  He wants to play for a winner, so he most likely won't take that deal, but i'd contend there's a big difference in what we will get out of Darvish compared to Oswalt.  I'm going to be late to work so I have to quit typing, but i'm excited.  I can't help but feel like this is a bargain.  Big props to the scouts, who were at every Yu Darvish start over the last few years.  Big props to Thad Levine who is the man in charge of structuring contracts.  Big props to the Rangers owners Bob Simpson and Ray Davis for having the faith in JD and the front office, and also big props to Nolan for getting around on this idea.  Obviously, big props to JD because he set out a plan at the beginning of the offseason and Yu Darvish was the organization's number one plan.  He got the guy he wanted.  Case closed, he got the guy he wanted.

As for Prince, i'll have more on that soon.  I think he'll be a Ranger.  I think Thad Levine and Scott Boras are creative enough to make it happen, and I also think Prince isn't too high on the idea of playing for the Nationals.  We'll see.  Either way, it was a great day for the Texas Rangers organization.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
T.O. TO JOIN ONE OF MY FORMER EMPLOYERS
Terrell Owens has announced he'll join the Allen Wranglers of the IFL (Indoor Football League).  Last year, I was their play-by-play announcer for about 3 games before I was let go due to a new owner bringing in his own people.  It was one of the happiest days of my life.  The league is boring, the games are boring, and hardly anybody attends them.  It is a joke of a league, and I feel the same way about Arena Football and really any other type of gimmick league.  There's a lot of things here though.  It's been well documented that Terrell Owens needs to pay off some child support, but he could also use this as a tryout. I don't think there is any NFL team that would consider giving him another avenue into the league, but say he dominates in one or two IFL games, then he could possibly drum up some interest for himself.  It's incredibly shady, and it's a tad embarrasing but I'm sure T.O. will put on a show like he always does. I guess when you need cash you need cash, and clearly T.O. needs some straight cash homie.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE w/ ORCHESTRA
New tour dates for Death Cab For Cutie, and they are coming back to Dallas.  I saw Death Cab in the summer of 2011 and I thought it was a great show, and a massive improvement over the first time I saw them in 2008.  Add in the Magik*Magik Orchestra and a new venue (McFarlin Memorial Auditorium), and you can count me in again.  Looking forward to it...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ROB LOWE "LITERALLY" THINKS PEYTON MANNING IS FINISHED
A lot of people were joking about this, and yeah I admit it seems a little far-fetched and weird to take breaking NFL news from Rob Lowe seriously, but I honestly don't think it's ludicrous.  First of all, let's remember Peyton Manning retiring was considered "not out of the realm of possibility" back when the season started.  It's not like Rob Lowe is the first one to address the issue of Peyton's retirement.  However, he is the first one to report that Manning's retirement is going down. I just hope we can get Peyton Manning on an episode of Parks and Rec soon!

Not necessarily Bob Sturm of Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket, but still a pretty interesting study on Bob.

NO-WIKI WEDNESDAY with A HINT OF YU 1/18/12

I hope everyone has their encyclopedias dusted off, it's gonna be a tough day for confirming references, and searching things that are on the tip of our tongue.

YU
Today we'll find out if the Rangers and Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish have agreed to a contract.  After this gets sorted out, we should expect all kinds of madness regarding Prince Fielder, Roy Oswalt, and more.  WFAA's Or Moyal, the only person i've ever seen pull off the organic plank, believes the Rangers might have something up their sleeves in the coming weeks involving a major trade.  Que the conspiracy music.

I'll be the greedy fan and take both Yu and Prince.  It can happen.  In fact, it will happen.

The Yu Darvish deadline is 4 PM, i'm sure the MLB Network will have some coverage, but if I were you i'd just listen to Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket, which you can find on Tune In Radio, theticket.com, or locally in Dallas on 1310 AM or 104.1 FM.  How's that for a virtual cross promotion?

This ought to hold you Rangers fans over for a few hours.

COOL, DEZ
When I think of Dez Bryant I don't picture great touchdown catches.  My mind only allows me to picture sagging jeans and the bankrupt part of the wheel on Wheel of Fortune.  I imagine a broken beer bottle will be next on the list of images, although I assume this was not your good old fashioned saloon bar fight.

Depressed Monday 1/16/12

I'm not feeling too well today after the Packers season ended yesterday.  I've lost the will to talk about it, so I won't be giving any opinions or analysis on the weekend's games.  Let's just do the only thing reasonable and watch the video below.

NFL DIVISIONAL ROUND RECAP
-49ers 36 Saints 32
-Patriots 45 Broncos 10
-Ravens 20 Texans 13
-Giants 37 Packers 20

So that sets up championship Sunday on my birthday, and the day Heath Ledger died...January 22nd.

GOLDEN GLOBES
-How was Breaking Bad not nominated for Best Drama?   Homeland wins, and i'm okay with it, because Homeland is really good, but American Horror Story and Boss were nominated for best drama and Breaking Bad wasn't.  WTF?

-Kelsey Grammer wins best actor over Bryan Cranston, Steve Buscemi, and Damian Lewis.  Really?  So stupid.

-Matt Leblanc wins for best actor of a comedy series.  Uhh, the show he's in "Episodes" is not funny.  I'm partial to David Dechovney of Californication, but I don't really have a horse in this race.  Just kind of disappointing to see best comedy actor be won for a show that is really bad.

-Clare Danes won best actress for TV Drama.  That's the right choice.  She's awesome.  Laura Dern won for actress of best TV Drama.  I obviously feel that Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) should have won, but i've never seen "Enlightened" and i'm sure Dern is great in it.  VOTE KNOPE 2012!

-I like the Emmy's better.  They aren't taken as serious.  Way too many awards for films nobody has never heard of, and musical scores from certain films that nobody has heard of.

-Ricky Gervais played nice, therefore the 2012 Golden Globes sucked balls.

Freaky Friday Fun 1/13/12

Remember when Astronautilus came up to Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket and rapped that one time?  Yeah, me too.  Here's the footage.  My boy Mike Marshall did the wicked editing.

PARKS AND REC S4 E11 "The Comeback Kid" Review
This was definitely not my favorite episode of the season, but it was still really good.  I can't say enough good things about this program.  The role of Ben Wyatt (Adam Scott) went from a deprssed unemployed dork, to the campaign manager of his girlfriend Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler).  This is just a few things that I really liked about the episode.

*Champion, the 3 legged dog.  He could be a Lil' Sebastian type character.  It'll be interesting to see if he sticks around for the long term.

*The presentation at the hockey rink was fantastic.  I think we've all been in that situation where keeping your footing is a difficult task.  Physical humor seems to have fallen by the wayside on most shows, and it was good to see some slapstick from this crew.  As usual, anytime physical humor is used on this show, Andy Dwyer plays a large part in it.

*Ron Swanson vs a cop.  Always fun.

NFL Divisional Round Picks
I'll take the Saints over the 49ers.  Saints will spread it out, and make the 49ers cover them.  This will also open up the running game.  I also think Brees being a lot better than Alex Smith probably makes a difference too.  I'll take the Saints by two touchdowns.

Patriots over Broncos.  That Tebow booger could do it again, and it would not surprise me one bit.  I think McDaniels going to New England to help out as an offensive assistant will hurt the Broncos more than people think.  This has kind of gone under the radar, but McDaniels is a defensive coach this week.  I'll take Brady in the playoffs 9 times out of 10.  I have no faith in New England to stop anybody, but I also have no faith in Tim Tebow doing what he did last week again.  I'll probably be wrong.  He proves people wrong a lot.

Ravens over Texans...i'm pulling for the Texans.  I have doubts about Joe Flacco's ability to win big games, but I also have doubts about TJ Yates in general.  The Ravens defense should contain the Texans running game which forces Yates to make plays.  Anytime TJ Yates is forced to make plays, i'll bet against him.  Ravens in a blow out...

As far as the Giants and Packers, I don't pick Packers games.  Go Packers!

MLB TRADE: MONTERO for PINEDA
In baseball news, the Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees made an interesting trade this evening.  Seattle sends pitchers Michael Pineda and Jose Campos to the Yankees for Jesus Montero and Hector Noesi.  Hard to immediately pick a winner of the trade.  I think Pineda will come down to earth a little bit in New York, but you also have to expect Montero to not throw up video game numbers in Safeco.  Many scouts suggest that Montero catching would be humerous, so it appears Justin Smoak and Jesus Montero will split time at 1B/DH.  One might think that Justin Smoak would be on the trading block, but I'm not sure how Seattle views him these days.

The aquisition of Pineda gives the Yankees a rotation of Sabathia, Kuroda (signed tonight to a one year deal), Pineda, Nova, and then one of Burnett/Hughes/Garcia.  Yeah, they're going to be good.

At this time, I don't know enough about Jose Campos or Hector Noesi to write about them.  This would apparently open up a DH spot for the Yankees.  I see Johnny Damon returning to the Yankees as a fit, but Carlos Pena is a name of interest to for the Bronx Bombers.  With the splashing that Texas and Los Angeles have done, the Yankees made it clear tonight that they aren't going away anytime soon.

Prince in Texas
There were reports today of Prince Fielder meeting up in Texas.  Interesting.  As the great Mike Hindman said, it's important to find out who called the meeting.  Texas or Boras?  Darvish is the priority, and that deal will be completed soon.  Fielder to Texas can happen.  It would need to be creative.  I think it would need to be a Sabathia type of structure in the contract, and what I mean by that is it would allow an opt-out clause early in the deal for the player.  7 years 130 million, with the first 3 years of the contract costing 70 million and then an opt-out clause after that.  That's all a guess and pure speculation, but it's an example of the contract layout that could make this deal work.  If Texas truly wants Fielder, I think they can have him.  I don't necessarily think it means saying goodbye to Josh next year either.  If stability is still a huge concern for Hamilton, then he could take a hometown discount to stay in Texas without it costing them Fielder.  If I had to predict who gets Prince, right now I say Texas on a long deal with the full intention on it actually being a short deal.  The headlines may read 6-10 years, but it'll actually be a 3 year deal.  All speculation, but this opportunity may be too hard for the Rangers to pass up.

E-Brake Assist
Mike Sirois won the E-Brake this week.  Big Strong Jeremy Moran and I, along with Norm get credit for the assist.

Treat Yo Self Thursday 1/12/12

TREAT YO SELF THURSDAY

QUICK NBC RANT
I'm opening Thursday with a little rant on NBC.  NBC harbors Community and Parks and Rec which are my two favorite current sitcoms.  Parks and Rec will probably go down as my favorite TV show ever.  Despite having these shows, NBC fails to promote them.  Community was put on the bench for the early part of the year, due to 30 Rock needing a spot in the Thursday block.  They removed Whitney and moved it to Wednesday (which is a good move), and added Up All Night to the Thursday block as well.  Community was the odd man out, which I'm now okay with just because it has generated a lot of buzz for the show.  The show's third season will resume in a couple months.  Community and Parks and Rec do not get good ratings.  They are very hard to get into, if you don't watch consistently and see the development of the characters.  Whitney does not get good ratings either, and i'm assuming it's Wednesday Happy Hour partner Are You There, Chelsea? will not get good ratings either.  Both shows feature laugh tracks, lazy humor (if you can call it humor), and very limited story telling.  It's bad television, yet you will constantly see ads and commercials for these television shows, while you'll be hard pressed to ever find advertisements or commercials for Parks and Rec and Community.  I don't think Community and Parks and Rec are ever going to be ratings giants, America is just too dumb for that, but they already get praise from critics and have a very strong niche audience that will literally fight to keep them on the air.  Whitney and the other show, are laughed at not because they are funny, but because they are terrible.  That's a lot of menutia I know, but I just wonder if Parks and Rec and Community would get more love if they were promoted as much as some of the other shows on the network.

PARKS AND RECREATION
New Parks and Rec tonight...730 Central time on NBC

APRIL LUDGATE
I've been in love with Aubrey Plaza for a while now.  Actually i'm in love with April Ludgate, not necessarily Aubrey Plaza.

http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/whats-alan-watching/posts/hitfix-first-look-the-best-of-aubrey-plaza-on-parks-and-recreation

COMMUNITY/30 ROCK RATINGS WATCH
Interesting to watch the ratings for 30 Rock.  A big part of Community's chance at being renewed for a 4th season will rely on how well 30 Rock does in Community's former time slot.  If the 30 Rock ratings are down, then Community is in good position for a return, proving that it's difficult for any show to do well in the 8/7C time slot.  If the 30 Rock ratings are up, then Community could die a slow death after only three season.  What a shame that would be.  How about a Community clip?  Or a "bagel" for breakfast?

THE MODERN FAMILY TRAP
And lastly, like most people, I really like Modern Family.  I do have an issue with most of Season 2 and pretty much episode Season 3.  They seem to have fallen into the "Full House" trap.   It seems like every episode has to end with some type of emotional lesson with the corny music in the background.  It's okay every now and then, but now every episode is in that same repeated formula.  It's still a good show, but a shell of what it was in Season 1.  More Phil, more Claire, and everything will be okay.

Humpday Linkage 1/11/12

I like music.  Ever since Astronautilus (Andrew Bothwell) came to visit the Cirque Du Sirois show, i've been casually digging deeper into his catalog.  I breezed by the song "I'm Never Right", and got a Modest Mouse type of feel from it.  More old school Modest Mouse, but still that's the vibe I got.

Here's the link to the day he came in studio with Cirque Du Sirois on Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket. Astronautilus visits The Ticket  (Courtesy TheUnticket.com)

The second song i'm linking up today is "Only in my Double Mind" from Centro-Matic...

And lastly, "Same Jeans" from The View....

Happy Birthday to Amanda Peet (40)...she has a slight case of "big teeth", but I still think she's still pretty good looking.  Greatness in "Saving Silverman" and also some movie in which the title is something I don't know right now, but it starred Zack Braff and Jason Bateman.  To truly honor her birthday, you should watch her awkward interview with Gordon Keith.

Have a great Wednesday!

Tuesday Morning Quickies

Congratulations NCAA Football.  You've set your sport back again.  Until, a playoff system is implemented you will continue to fall further and further behind the NFL.

Paul Rudd will join Parks and Rec temporarily to play the role of Leslie Knope's election opponent.  I like Paul Rudd, but Knope 2012!  LINKAGE

Coachella lineup is out.  I can't speak from experience because i've never been, but it's in the circle of popular American music festivals that I would like to go to.  LINKAGE

Mike Gonzalez will happen.  Ryan Madson will not, in my estimation.  BASEBALL LINKAGE

And i'll close off this morning fun with some fun in-store Pac-Man!

Be good!

It's Wildcard Week, Bitches!

4 months of awesome Sundays and occasional Thursday and Monday nights are over, and now it's time to begin the race for the Lombardi trophy.  Our wildcard games have been set.  Let's do this thing in chronological order.

JANUARY 7TH---3:30PM CENTRAL ON NBC
#6 CINCINNATI @ #3 HOUSTON

When these two teams played four weeks ago, Houston won 20-19.

This is a hard one to call right off the bat.  First and foremost, we have to find out if T.J. Yates will be healthy enough to play.  Who ever thought that sentence would be uttered in a playoff situation?  Jake Delhomme is so bad that he is not even worthy of an analogy, so therefore I won't make one.  He sucks.  No matter who is at quarterback, look for the Texans to rely on a heavy dose of Arian Foster and Ben Tate.  Andre Johnson's return to the lineup just doesn't seem that dangerous, given how much time he has missed.  If Delhomme starts, and I don't think that will be the case, then Cincinnati is my pick.  Yates has proved to be competent though, and I think it will make for a close game assuming he gets the start.

On the other side, this will be Andy Dalton's first playoff game of his young career.  The Bengals have had issues running the ball in the last few weeks.  Cedric Benson should continue to get fewer carries in favor of Bernard Scott. Scott is faster, and has big play ability.  I think Cincinnati wins if they can get one or two big plays.  Houston has a rare ability to bring a lot of heat without compromising the secondary too much.  It doesn't mean they won't blitz, but it means that Dalton could see constant pressure all day long.  Dalton has proven to be pretty efficient, given the fact that he's a rookie.  Can A.J. Green, Jerome Simpson, or even Jermaine Gresham get loose for a big play?  If so, the Texans will be in trouble.

Jacoby Jones of the Texans and Brandon Tate of the Bengals have proven to be electrifying return men.  It'll be interesting to see if one of them can break loose.

Houston finally has a playoff game.  Reliant Stadium should be rocking.  Both teams are probably happy with the matchup they drew.  Neither team figures to see the light of day after this weekend.

KT'S PICK:  Assuming Yates starts, Houston 23-17...if Delhomme starts, Cincinnati 24-10

#6 DETROIT @ #3 NEW ORLEANS

The Detroit pass defense is beyond awful.  Matt Flynn is not a 500 yard 6 TD quarterback.  He's just not.  The Lions are also one of the most undisciplined teams in the league, aside from maybe Oakland.  New Orleans is currently one of the hottest and best teams in the league.  I suspect this won't end well for Stu Cedar and the Mufasa's.

The Lions have a decent run defense, and one of the worst pass defense in the league.  I know i'm speaking the obvious here, but the Saints should light up the scoreboard on Detroit.  There's a reason Chicago released Chris Harris.  Not only is he a moron, he's also terrible.  The Lions only hope defensively, is to minimize damage.  Field Goals instead of Touchdowns.  Bring pressure, and try to create turnovers because the Saints will get their yards either way.  On the ground, in the air, the yardage will come.  Detroit must eliminate touchdowns and force field goals.

The Lions have games where they look unstoppable on offense too though, and I feel like they have the fire power to square off with the Saints.  The Lions must get something out of the running game though.  Stafford has tons of weapons, but overall I just feel like the Lions aren't quite ready.

KT'S PICK:  The Saints are on a roll, and they haven't lost at home this year.  The Lions come off as really immature and inexperienced.  I also think losing a game that they tried to win in Green Bay will have a negative carry over effect on them.  I predict a close game for three quarters, with the Saints pulling away in the end.  SAINTS 45-34

#5 ATLANTA @ #4 NEW YORK GIANTS

This is another fun little playoff football game.  The Falcons have to be happy to play the Giants instead of the Saints, but honestly who ever really knows what kind of team the Giants will run out there?

I wonder how hard the Giants will try to establish the run.  Ahmad Bradshaw looks like he's close to 100% now, while Brandon Jacobs looks like he's out of steam.  Atlanta is pretty good against the run too, but the Giants will help the Atlanta secondary out immensely if they fail to pose a threat on the ground.

That Falcons pass defense was exposed by Green Bay last year, and I could easily see it happening again.  Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz can be potentially deadly for Atlanta.

On offense the Falcons can play any type of game, but I see them really trying to establish a running game with Michael Turner to keep the Giants pass rushers from cheating.  Protection is key, and the Falcons offensive line won't have a chance to protect Ryan if they are kept in a lot of passing downs.

This one is hard to pick.  The Giants are one of the most bipolar teams in the league.  They'll be world beaters on week, and look like monkey poop the next.

KT'S PICK:  I think we'll see a close and high scoring game, but I think the Giants show up.  They put the pressure on and Atlanta simply does not.  This could go either way, but i'm leaning towards  Giants 31-27

#5 PITTSBURGH @ #4 DENVER

Tim Tebow isn't good.  Throw out the fact that Rashard Mendenhall and safety Ryan Clark are not playing, Denver still won't have enough to win.  Tim Tebow has been exposed in the last few weeks.  This exposure will continue on a higher level against Pittsburgh.

Denver's defense is pretty stingy, and Ben Roethlisberger's injured ankle is a huge concern for Pittsburgh, but I honestly don't see the Steelers needing to score much.

I don't feel like there is too much to break down.  A bad offense against a good defense will call for hardly any points for Denver, while a good offense against a good defense will grant the Steelers marginal success, but enough to win the game.

KT'S PICK:  Steelers 16-7
